On the 29th of June, 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon Hulki Aktunc a distinguished literary figure in Turkey left all of us here to join, amongst others, his dear departed Sisip.

We think of Hulki as we remember this German saying about simple and unremarkable people featured in a text by Haldun Taner:
"Try not to be surprised by this...that a genius such as Schiller dies while these fools continue to live..."

It may be beneficial if we for a moment bury the deep sadness we feel towards the reality of losing a unique man, with an undying passion for literature and art
and rather thank those who brought Hulki into this world and celebrate his endless creations and his brilliantly colorful life.

Hulki, let your life be celebrated by one and all.
