We’re very proud to announce to you that Ilhan Usmanbas, the living legend of contemporary Turkish music has joined the Muzikotek family with all of his works.
Born in Istanbul in 1921, Usmanbas was a student at Istanbul University Faculty of Literature, Istanbul Municipality Conservatoire, and Ankara State Conservatoire. He studied music with the most important composers of Turkish music, such as Cemal Resit Rey, Sezai Asal, Hasan Ferid Alnar, Ahmet Adnan Saygun, Ulvi Cemal Erkin. He went to the United States during the years 1957-1958 with the Rockefeller scholarship award.
Ilhan Usmanbas has over 100 works in which unique aleotoric and minimal research and implementations have gained importance in time. He has been teaching composition in Turkey for a long time, during which he published books and translations and wrote articles about music.
