Alp Durmaz started his musical career in 1988 whilst still in high school.
He performed his first concert in 1991. Alp took his first formal music lessons from Professor Cenan Akın in 1992.

After successfully completing his studies he enrolled in the Music and Performing Arts Department of the Bilkent University in 1994 and majored in Theory-Composition.

His compositions were performed in various concerts during this time. After his graduation he began taking lessons in comtemporary music from Professor Ahmet Yürür. An end of study piece was performed in the Borusan Center of Culture and Art in October, 2000.

In November, he produced his first professional piece of work by writing the music for the film “Hayal Kurma Dersleri” (Lessons on Imagination) by Yavuz Özkan.
