Copyright

When it comes to the professional use of music for audio visual productions there are 3 choices. In search of the music suitable for their productions the producers can select from one or even all of these following categories for one production depending on their budget and time.
1- Well known works , international & local
2- Music libraries
3- Commissioned music

Well known commercial compositions: The license for this type of music must be obtained before going into any costly film or other production activity. The request must be put forward to the publisher of the work in a timely manner because in most cases the composer’s approval is needed and this can on occasions take a considerable time. After the publishing license has been granted the record company must be found and a separate license must be cleared for the original soundtrack. However the composer or publisher may allow a re-record. As with Music Libraries there is no set fee, the fee is determined by the conditions of use.. Although as a music publisher we do everything to gain the license speedily, as mentioned above this can occasionally take a long time and in some cases the composer or song writer will ultimately not approve the project.

Music Libraries: Using music from music libraries is a very fast and practical solution. Once the agreement is signed the music is available for the applicants use. Having been granted the permission by Composer and Songwriter, The Publishing Company (Music Library) can license and give the necessary authorisations. In every country there is a set usage fee for this type of music. Another advantage of using Music Libraries is that the mechanical license given, not only includes the Publishing rights but also grants the recording / master rights. In short, with one license all rights are cleared.

Commissioned Music: Commissioned Music is an original piece of music ordered from the composer. The cost is determined by the details for each production.

HEALTH WARNING: The use of any music without a legal license or signed agreement can cause serious harm

Anonymous and/or out of copyright compositions:

The composer or song writer of an anonymous composition is unknown so the work is in the public domain. (PD)

The composer and song writer of an out of copyright composition is known. According to the international law which is adopted by most countries, 70 years after the death of the composer the composition loses its copyright and becomes public domain.(PD)

An important point of notice is that a new arrangement or new lyrics written for an anonymous or PD composition puts it back into copyright. One must take great care while using this type of composition. You may get in touch with Muzikotek in order to gain more information or support if you have any doubts about your music..
